hello_my_friend

The hello my friend game – Northern Africa At the time of this writing (February 2014) there have not been the usual amounts of tourists in Morocco, Tunisia or Egypt – which means for you fellow backpacker, that there are many more “tourist guides” then there are tourists. It is almost impossible to walk down the street as a solo female backpacker without being accosted by several local business men – and I call them business men because they are all business. It goes like this – you…

vegetarian diet, onenomadwoman

I have started a Vegetarian Diet, and this is why… When traveling you encounter strange food in almost every new place – this is to be expected and is part of the adventure. However, when I was traveling through Northern Africa (Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt) I started to experience this on a whole new level. There was one imagine that has been stuck in my mind more than all the rest, and will probably will remain there forever. One day as I was walking carelessly through the souk…

There are many hostels to choose from in Cairo using Hostelworld.com and Hostelbookers.com, and making the choice proved quite difficult as they all seemed so great for a variety of reasons. However, I did finally choose a place called Dahab Hostel in downtown Cairo, about an hour from the airport. They even sent a car to pick me up at 9pm and with less than 24 hours notice, and for a great price of 65EP which I was very grateful for 🙂 The Dahab Hostel is amazing for a few…

This story begins in the airport waiting for a gentleman from Germany to arrive. You see, I (along with a Tunisian driver and his sister) was here to welcome and escort this man from the airport to meet up with a group that was going on a spiritual retreat tour through the Sahara with…
